Shrinkable Sleeves

Shrink collars and shrink tapes for corrosion protection and district heating

Collari termorestringenti per sigillaytura giunti teleriscaldamento e protezione anticorrosione

Technical Properties

  Base material PEX
  Adhesive butyl based hot-melt
  Standard length 150-225-450
  Minimum thickness 2.0 mm
  Max operating temp 50 °C

Shrink collars are usually used together with shrink muffs for the “Dual Seal” Joints according to EN 489, which are characterized by a double sealing of the joint area.

They consist of a crosslinked polyethylene backing, responsible for mechanical and heat-shrinkable performances, coated with a special hot-melt adhesive which guarantees an excellent grip to polyethylene shrinkable muffs and casing pipes.

The same product can also be used for the corrosion protection of the welding area in coated steel pipelines.

Wrap around tapes made of cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) coupled with a hot melt butyl based adhesive are used to seal joints for district heating as an alternative to collars either on particularly big or out-of-standard diameters or in case of repairing interventions.

Since the tape is open the final sealing of either ends must be carried out by a special closure patch made of cross-linked polyethylene coupled with an ethly-vinil-acetate (EVA) adhesive layer.

Such tapes can be delivered in rolls 30 metres long or cut upon request for each diameter and packed with pre-applied closure patch.
